Summary:

The essence of Humanity is freedom, thus men and women share this Divine gift. The stereotypical gender roles are not an integral part of the Torahs teachings. There are two paths in the Torah for finding G-d. The Male path is the Path of Submission while the Female path is the Path of Freedom. Both these paths are part of a redemptive process taking place throughout history. The Kabbalah has much to teach us about this process. When viewed Kabbalisticly, the stereotypical male role is actually a form of extreme femininity, while the use of the male gender in relation to G-d is antithetical to this. The use of the male gender in talking to G-d has no relation to human masculinity or femininity.

Judaism is a dynamic process at the core of which is the relationship between the individual and G-d. All the content of our lives, spiritual, intellectual, emotional or material can become part of that relationship. However, there is a process of integration which much be carried out in which we are reborn into eternity. While Halacha relates to external realities of this process, the Kabbalah teaches us about the relationship itself. There is no Kabbalah without Judaism, and Judaism without Kabbalah is like a language without its meaning.

Summary:

The Zohar came to light about 800 years ago, and is understood to contain a body of teachings much older than that. Despite the lack of a clear testimony to its authenticity, it eventually achieved central status in the Kabbalistical Literature, as the work of an ancient circle of sages, under the tutelage of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yohai. This is because The Zohar presents a radically different and more powerful system of Kabbalistic thought, which scholars living at the time of its appearance knew themselves incapable of producing. It took about three hundred years until Rabbi Yitzhak Luria, The Holy Ari, discovered the keys to its proper comprehension, and revolutionized how Judaism was understood the world over. "Pathway to The Zohar and the Writings of the Ari" provides an understanding of the key concepts needed for you to begin your exploration of the Zohar. It is reflective of a Hassidic approach.
